My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006)

Cast: Uma Thurman (Jenny Johnson/G-Girl), Luke Wilson (Matt Saunders), Anna Faris (Hannah Lewis), Rainn Wilson (Vaughn Haige)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's My Super Ex-Girlfriend page.
I have to admit that in spite of the cast, I had very low expectations for My Super Ex-Girlfriend. It's far from the best comedy I've seen, but I enjoyed the movie a lot more than I expected. Parts of My Super Ex-Girlfriend were beyond absurd and it went a little too far, but the idea of having a super ex who is really unhinged and upset with you is funny and they did a good job with the idea.
Definitely glad I didn't bother to see this in a theatre, but it's worth the rental.

The Family Stone (2005)

Cast: Claire Danes (Julie Morton), Diane Keaton (Sybil Stone), Rachel McAdams (Amy Stone), too many wonderful cast members to list
For complete information, see IMDb's The Family Stone page.
This movie had more sad parts (the ending is a bit sad) than I anticipated from the commercials, but it's still a wonderful movie. The Family Stone touches on just about every sticky subject that can come up in a family, so if you're easily offended you might want to skip it. Otherwise, it's a wonderful movie about family and dealing with different life and relationship issues within a family.
The cast is, of course, amazing and the script is worthy of the cast.

Alex & Emma (2003)

Cast: Luke Wilson (Alex Sheldon/Adam Shipley), Kate Hudson (Emma Dinsmore/Ylva/Elsa/Eldora/Anna)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Alex & Emma page.
When you look at this cast, you think that it's just got to be a good movie. In fact, initially, I wanted to see Alex & Emma in a movie theater, but it was gone so fast that I missed it. After renting it, I can say that I'm glad it wasn't in theaters long and I understand why it left so quickly.
Alex & Emma just never really got going. The story never really started. We waited and waited, but there was never really a plot worth watching or caring about in the movie.

Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003)

Cast: Reese Witherspoon (Elle Woods), Sally Field (Rep. Victoria Rudd), Regina King (Grace Rossiter)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde page.
Of course, the second movie wasn't nearly as good as the original Legally Blonde, but it was exactly what I expected. It was a very fun summer movie. As long as you go into this movie realizing it's nothing but pure fun, I think it's a great idea.
I'd see Reese Witherspoon in anything and I think Elle Woods is a wonderful character. I was glad to see them do a sequel.

The Royal Tenenbaums (2001)

Cast: Gene Hackman (Royal Tenenbaum), Anjelica Huston (Etheline Tenenbaum), Gwyneth Paltrow (Margot Tenenbaum), Ben Stiller (Chas Tenenbaum), Luke Wilson (Richie Tenenbaum), Owen Wilson (Eli Cash)
For complete info, see IMDb's The Royal Tenenbaums page.
This movie about a family of child prodigies (all grown up and not that special any more), had such potential. I thought it would be a lot funnier than it was in reality, though the cast is wonderful and parts of The Royal Tenenbaums are very hilarious.
I'd definitely suggest that it be on the rental list. Not at the top, but it's a funny movie about a dysfunctional family of prodigies.

Legally Blonde (2001)

Cast: Reese Witherspoon (Elle Woods), Luke Wilson (Emmett Richmond), Selma Blair (Vivian Kensington)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Legally Blonde page.
I'm a big believer of not judging a book by its cover, so Legally Blonde caught my eye immediately. I'd seen Reese Witherspoon in some movies, but I truly became a fan within the first few minutes of Legally Blonde.
I can't recommend this movie highly enough. It has a great cast and wonderful messages about not pre-judging people based on looks.

Home Fries (1998)

Cast: Drew Barrymore (Sally Jackson), Catherine O'Hara (Beatrice Lever), Luke Wilson (Dorian Montier), Jake Busey (Angus Montier)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Home Fries page.
This story about a pregnant woman who unknowingly falls for the step-son of the deceased father of her child and copes with the craziness of the family he left behind is very entertaining. I saw it because of Drew Barrymore and Luke Wilson. I'd see almost anything either of them do and I'm rarely disappointed. In spite of the poor marketting campaign, this movie was no exception. Home Fries is hardly high brow, but it's very enjoyable to watch.
