Mad Money (2008)

Cast: Queen Latifah (Nina Brewster), Diane Keaton (Bridget Cardigan), Katie Holmes (Jackie Truman), Ted Danson (Don Cardigan)
For complete info, see IMDb's Mad Money site.
This movie was more enjoyable than I expected. I like the cast a lot, but the previews I saw didn't look interesting enough. It definitely wasn't worth seeing in a theatre, but I'm glad I bothered to watch it with Netflix instant (isn't that a great feature?). Mad Money isn't something you need to see in high definition, so you can just watch it online and skip making sure you get it in Blu-ray format, but it's an enjoyable comedy with a great cast. Definitely worth adding to the queue if it's not there already.

Because I Said So (2007)

Cast: Diane Keaton (Daphne), Mandy Moore (Milly), Gabriel Macht (Johnny), Tom Everett Scott (Jason), Lauren Graham (Maggie), Piper Perabo (Mae)
For complete info, see IMDb's Because I Said So page.
I expected Because I Said So to be a pretty good chick flick, since the cast was great. I didn't think this movie would be that funny. I also didn't expect so many people to get involved enough in the movie that they were actually talking to the screen. So many people gave advice to Milly during the movie, since her mother drove the audience a little crazy. I can't even imagine dealing with a mother like Daphne.
The opening sequence didn't look like anything I expected of the movie from the previews. I didn't know it was the movie util I noticed Lauren Graham. I definitely don't think this is a movie you need to see in a theatre, but I do recommend renting it when it comes out on DVD. I went with the girls (sparing my husband from the chick flick I thought Because I Said So would be, but I've added it to my Netflix list, since I think my husband will enjoy it, too.

The Family Stone (2005)

Cast: Claire Danes (Julie Morton), Diane Keaton (Sybil Stone), Rachel McAdams (Amy Stone), too many wonderful cast members to list
For complete information, see IMDb's The Family Stone page.
This movie had more sad parts (the ending is a bit sad) than I anticipated from the commercials, but it's still a wonderful movie. The Family Stone touches on just about every sticky subject that can come up in a family, so if you're easily offended you might want to skip it. Otherwise, it's a wonderful movie about family and dealing with different life and relationship issues within a family.
The cast is, of course, amazing and the script is worthy of the cast.

Something's Gotta Give (2003)

Cast: Jack Nicholson (Harry Sanborn), Diane Keaton (Erica Jane Barry), Keanu Reaves (Dr. Julian Mercer), Amanda Peet (Marin)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Something's Gotta Give page.
This is honestly the first time I've seen Keanu Reaves act where I've honestly thought, "Hey, he can really act. He's not just the goofball in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure." I was pleasantly surprised to see that the entire cast did a wonderful job with this great story.
The previews for Something's Gotta Give didn't do it justice. This is a great, quirky romantic comedy about love and coping with age.
