Griffin & Phoenix (2006)

Cast: Amanda Peet (Phoenix) & Dermot Mulroney (Griffin)
For complete info, see IMDb's Griffin & Phoenix page.
I liked the actors playing the two main characters and figured I couldn't go wrong renting Griffin & Phoenix. I was right. It's not the typical romantic comedy, since the two main characters are both facing their deaths due to terminal illness and don't tell each other about their situations. That definitely puts a slightly different spin on the typical romantic comedy (even counting the ones with one terminally ill character). There are a lot of hilarious moments in this movie and (clearly) a quite a few times when those who get emotionally involved might tear up a bit.
I highly recommend renting Griffin & Phoenix if you didn't see it in a theatre.

Georgia Rule (2007)

Cast: Jane Fonda (Georgia), Lindsay Lohan (Rachel), Felicity Huffman (Lilly), Dermot Mulroney (Simon), Cary Elwes (Arnold)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Georgia Rule page.
Considering all the horrible things I heard about the filming of Georgia Rule, I wasn't expecting much, which is why I'd planned to rent it. When it was available on my flight back from New York, I thought that was perfect. I was surprised to find Georgia Rule pretty entertaining. Much better than what I expected. Not a great movie, but definitely worth renting or using to pass the time on a flight.

Gracie (2007)

Cast: Christopher Shand (Kyle Rhodes), Carly Schroeder (Grace Bowen), Dermot Mulroney (Bryan Bowen), Elisabeth Shue (Lindsay Bowen)
For complete info, see IMDb's Gracie page.
This story of a girl who tries to compete on a soccer team for boys, since they don't have a girls' team is interesting and has a great cast. It's not an entirely unique story, but there are some elements that aren't exactly the same in other movies of its type. Definitely worth renting or watching on a plane trip.

The Family Stone (2005)

Cast: Claire Danes (Julie Morton), Diane Keaton (Sybil Stone), Rachel McAdams (Amy Stone), too many wonderful cast members to list
For complete information, see IMDb's The Family Stone page.
This movie had more sad parts (the ending is a bit sad) than I anticipated from the commercials, but it's still a wonderful movie. The Family Stone touches on just about every sticky subject that can come up in a family, so if you're easily offended you might want to skip it. Otherwise, it's a wonderful movie about family and dealing with different life and relationship issues within a family.
The cast is, of course, amazing and the script is worthy of the cast.

Must Love Dogs (2005)

Cast: Diane Lane (Sarah Nolan), John Cusack (Jake), Elizabeth Perkins (Carol), Christopher Plummer (Bill), Dermot Mulroney (Bob), Stockard Channing (Dolly)
For complete cast, see IMDb's Must Love Dogs page.
This is a cute romantic comedy about a woman whose family decides it's time for her to get back to dating and places a personal ad for her without her being aware. There are many hilarious meetings that come out of the ad. Unfortunately, the best of those was given away in the preview, but the movie is still very sweet and well worth watching. The cast is absolutely amazing and I think that really makes this a movie you have to rent if you enjoy romantic comedies.

My Best Friend's Wedding (1997)

Cast: Julia Roberts (Julianne Potter), Dermot Mulroney (Michael O'Neal), Cameron Diaz (Kimberly Wallace), Rupert Everett (George Downes)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's My Best Friend's Wedding page.
The cast is amazing, the music is great... Yet, somehow, they didn't quite hit the nail on the head. I love that it doesn't have the typical Hollywood ending and George Downes (brilliantly played by Rupert Everett) really reminds me of my best friend, since you know he'll be there for Julianne no matter how many crazy stunts she pulls. I'm glad that they changed the ending from the original ending that they shopped around in previews, since this ending is a lot more real and makes Julianne someone you can handle liking on some level.
Definitely more of a rental than a movie to rush out to see right away, but worth the rental.
