Must Love Dogs (2005)

Cast: Diane Lane (Sarah Nolan), John Cusack (Jake), Elizabeth Perkins (Carol), Christopher Plummer (Bill), Dermot Mulroney (Bob), Stockard Channing (Dolly)
For complete cast, see IMDb's Must Love Dogs page.

This is a cute romantic comedy about a woman whose family decides it's time for her to get back to dating and places a personal ad for her without her being aware. There are many hilarious meetings that come out of the ad. Unfortunately, the best of those was given away in the preview, but the movie is still very sweet and well worth watching. The cast is absolutely amazing and I think that really makes this a movie you have to rent if you enjoy romantic comedies.

Where the Heart Is (2000)

Cast: Natalie Portman (Novalee Nation), Ashley Judd (Lexie Coop), Stockard Channing (Thelma 'Sister' Husband), Joan Cusack (Ruth Meyers), James Frain (Forney Hull)
For complete info, see IMDb's Where the Heart Is page.

A pregnant 17-year-old who pulls her life together after being abandoned at a Wal-Mart by her boyfriend. Sounds like a Jerry Springer show, doesn't it? In spite of the sensational nature of Where the Heart Is, the story is touching. It's definitely a bit sappy in parts, but this bitter-sweet story is worth a look. The cast is amazing and the story is well presented.

I've always liked stories with witches and magic and I loved the cast, so liking Practical Magic was no surprise. It's a very funny movie about some witches trying to fit in and the trouble that can be caused by trying to cover up the truth. It's got a little of everything and lots of laughs with a great cast! I highly recommend renting this one if you missed it.
