My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006)

Cast: Uma Thurman (Jenny Johnson/G-Girl), Luke Wilson (Matt Saunders), Anna Faris (Hannah Lewis), Rainn Wilson (Vaughn Haige)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's My Super Ex-Girlfriend page.
I have to admit that in spite of the cast, I had very low expectations for My Super Ex-Girlfriend. It's far from the best comedy I've seen, but I enjoyed the movie a lot more than I expected. Parts of My Super Ex-Girlfriend were beyond absurd and it went a little too far, but the idea of having a super ex who is really unhinged and upset with you is funny and they did a good job with the idea.
Definitely glad I didn't bother to see this in a theatre, but it's worth the rental.

Beautiful Girls (1996)

Cast: Matt Dillon (Tommy 'Birdman' Rowland), Noah Emmerich (Michael 'Mo' Morris), Annabeth Gish (Tracy Stover), Lauren Holly (Darian Smalls), Timothy Hutton (Willie Conway), Rosie O'Donnell (Gina Barrisano), Natalie Portman (Marty)
For complete info on this amazing cast, see IMDb's Beautiful Girls page.
The longer I watched Beautiful Girls, the more I was amazed that with this fabulous cast it hadn't come onto my radar until recently. I came across it in Netflix or Tivo (can't remember which first) and ended up recording it on Tivo. The cast will blow you away. Every time you see a cast member, you'll recognize them and go "Wow - [he/she] is in this too??"
Beautiful Girls follows a groups of adults who gather for a high school reunion, when only one of the guys (Willie) has ever really left their home town. He encounters the young girl next door (a young Natalie Portman) and a friend's hot cousin (Uma Thurman) force him to evaluate his love life. Willie's friends are also dealing with problems in their love lives, of course.
The movie is very entertaining and well worth the time to rent it on Netflix or find it on Tivo! I can't believe that Beautiful Girls was released 10 years ago and I just saw it this year. If you've somehow managed to miss this, too, check it out now.

The Producers (2005)

Cast: Nathan Lane (Max Bialystock), Matthew Broderick (Leo Bloom), Uma Thurman (Ulla), Will Ferrell (Franz Liebkind)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's The Producers page.
Considering all the nominations it got for the Golden Globes, I was expecting more, in spite of reviews I'd read. I normally don't read reviews before seeing a movie, but since I'd seen this show 3 times already, I didn't think there was much it could ruin. I gave the movie, The Producers the benefit of the doubt, figuring most people who reviewed it poorly hadn't liked the movie either, so it wasn't a group who likes Broadway shows as much as I do, etc.
Unfortunately, seeing The Producers movie only made me confused by the Golden Globe nominations and upset that it made more money in movie theaters than Rent, which was a much better movie adaptation in my opinion. I'd read reviews that said they were surprised Rent won this year's war of the movie musicals by being better done, but I hadn't seen both, so I couldn't judge.
If you've seen The Producers on Broadway or tour and haven't seen Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick, I highly recommend renting the movie so that you can see some of what they took to the stage. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't capture them as much as seeing them live does, though. So, if you saw Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick live in The Producers on Broadway, skip the movie. They didn't use the advantages film gave them. My guess is the main reason for this is that they used the same director (Susan Stroman) who directed the musical on stage when she hadn't directed a major motion picture before. I think if they'd chosen a movie director, the movie could have been much better.

Prime (2005)

Cast: Meryl Streep (Lisa Metzger), Uma Thurman (Rafi Gardet), Bryan Greengerg (David Bloomberg), Jon Abrahams (Morris)
For complete info, see IMDb's Prime page.
This movie about a woman who starts dating her therapists' son unbeknownst to both of them is cute and definitely worth watching. My husband really enjoyed it, too, so I'm not sure it fits into the chick flick description some seem to be giving it. The humor is definitely stereotype driven, but it works for the movie. Prime is entertaining and funny. It deals with some real situations without getting too serious and kept us interested.

Les Miserables (1998)

Cast: Liam Neeson (Jean Valjean), Geoffrey Rush (Inspector Javert), Uma Thurman (Fantine), Claire Danes (Cosette), Hans Matheson (Marius)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Les Miserables page.
With a cast headed by Liam Neeson and including these amazing actors, I had high expectations for this adaptation of the Victor Hugo Novel. Unfortunately, the movie didn't live up to my expectations. In spite of the wonderful cast and great original novel, the screenplay didn't quite live up to expectations.
I'd suggest renting this or waiting till it shows up on HBO. Just not nearly as enthralling as the story could be. If you really want to see Les Miserables, catch the musical, they did a much better job with that.

The Truth About Cats & Dogs (1996)

Cast: Uma Thurman (Noelle), Janeane Garofalo (Abby), Ben Chaplin (Brian), Jamie Foxx (Ed)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's The Truth About Cats & Dogs page.
I think this is a very cute update of Cyrano de Bergerac with women instead of men. Abby is a very successful veterinarian with a radio show who chickens out when an attractive man wants to meet her in person. It's not the most intelligent version of Cyrano that's ever been done, but it is a very sweet story with a great cast that carries the same message from Cyrano about judging people based on what's inside.
