P. S. I Love You (2007)

Cast: Hilary Swank (Holly Kennedy), Gerard Butler (Gerry Kennedy), Lisa Kudrow (Denise Hennessey), Gina Gershon (Sharon McCarthy), James Marsters (John McCarthy), Kathy Bates (Patricia Rawley), Harry Connick Jr. (Daniel Connelly)
For complete info on this amazing cast, see IMDb's P. S. I Love You page.
This movie about a young woman who loses her husband to cancer and the messages he left her to help her get through the pain of his death is very well done. The cast is completely amazing (it was great to see Sherie Rene Scott as the travel agent, too). The scenery in Ireland was beautiful and fit very well in this touching movie. It would have been worth seeing on a big screen for some of the shots of the countryside. Of course, there are no special effects, so it's a very good movie to rent.
If you don't like fairly sappy love stories, P. S. I Love You is not for you. That should be clear from the title. P. S. I Love You is a very well done romantic movie and I highly recommend it if you do enjoy romantic dramas.

Failure to Launch (2006)

Cast: Matthew McConaughey (Trip), Sarah Jessica Parker (Paula), Bradley Cooper (Demo), Justin Bartha (Ace), Zooey Deschanel (Kit), Kathy Bates (Sue), Terry Bradshaw (Al)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Failure to Launch page.
Since I don't read reviews before seeing movies, all I had seen other than a couple short previews was the title of the CNN review yesterday basically saying that it lived up to the "Failure" in the name... I totally disagree.
Failure to Launch was a fun (and funny) movie about a guy (Trip) who is an adult who's making plenty of money, but still living at home. Though there are clearly a couple big stars in this movie, it really is a great ensemble piece. The cast is really great and they're all so funny. Of course, this movie was a bit predictable and not even close to Oscar-worthy. That doesn't mean Failure to Launch isn't a lot of fun.
I definitely recommend seeing Failure to Launch in the theaters or as a rental. The characters are great and the performances are wonderful. Go enjoy this cute romantic comedy!

The Waterboy (1998)

Cast: Adam Sandler (Robert 'Bobby' Boucher Jr.), Kathy Bates (Helen 'Mama' Boucher), Fairuza Balk (Vicki Vallencourt), Henry Winkler (Coach Klein)
For complete info, see IMDb's The Waterboy page.
This movie about a waterboy whose mother hates football finding out that he's got a talent for tackling and becoming a member of the team is very funny! The cast is amazing, the characters are ridiculous, and the story is very good. I definitely recommend that you check this out, even if you're not a huge Adam Sandler fan. I think you'll find it worth the time.

Titanic (1997)

Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio (Jack Dawson), Kate Winslet (Rose DeWitt Bukater), Billy Zane (Caledon 'Cal' Hockley), Kathy Bates (Molly Brown)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Titanic page.
Although I don't think Titanic could ever live up to the hype, I thought this fictional account of what might have happened in the ship's last hours was very interesting and that most of the special effects were very well done.
I think Titanic is worth seeing for the special effects or the love story. When you combine the two, it really is a great movie. The idea of giving up everything for love is such a romantic notion, that it makes the movie very worth while.
Forget what really happened and remember this is a movie. A romanticized notion of the events is presented with fictional characters added in with the historical characters to create a combintion of fact and fiction.

Fried Green Tomatoes (1991)

Cast: Kathy Bates (Evelyn Couch), Mary Stuart Masterson (Idgie Threadgoode), Mary-Louise Parker (Ruth Jamison), Jessica Tandy (Ninny Threadgoode)
For complete cast, see IMDb's Fried Green Tomatoes page.
From the title and desrcription of this movie (about a housewife who's unhappy with her life and befriends an old lady in a nursing home), it doesn't sound all that interesting. However, the women in the cast make Fried Green Tomatoes a very interesting and entertaining movie. I didn't read the novel, so I can't tell you how it compares, but I enjoyed the movie greatly and definitely recommend you check out this amazing cast in a good movie.
