Gran Torino (2008)

Cast: Clint Eastwood (Walt Kowalski), Bee Vang (Thao Vang Lor), Ahney Her (Sue Lor)
For complete info, see IMDb's Gran Torino page.
Clint Eastwood always makes amazing choices when he directs movies, so I wanted to see this in a theatre, but didn't get around to it. I was shocked when Gran Torino didn't get an Oscar nomination for Best Picture or at least Best Director. I'm even more shocked now that I've seen it. I wonder what Clint Eastwood did to upset the Academy members.
If you haven't seen Gran Torino, I highly recommend renting it. This movie about a completely racist Korean War vet is amazingly touching. I never thought I could watch a movie where the main character is so prejudiced and end up caring about him. The cast of Gran Torino is wonderful and Clint Eastwood did a great job.

Million Dollar Baby (2004)

Cast: Clint Eastwood (Frankie Dunn), Hilary Swank (Maggie Fitzgerald), Morgan Freeman (Eddie Scrap-Iron Dupris)
For complete cast, see IMDb's Million Dollar Baby page.
As someone who hates boxing, I wasn't looking forward to seeing Million Dollar Baby in spite of the great previews and everyone saying it's a great movie. Surprisingly enough, Clint Eastwood directed Million Dollar Baby in such a way that I absolutely loved it, in spite of the boxing. Heck, he got me to care about boxing for a couple hours, which is a minor miracle.
The cast and directing is absolutely amazing. The story is moving. What more can you ask for in a movie? I haven't seen all the nominees, but so far this has my vote for best picture.

Wow! What a movie! This has my vote for best picture - hands down! What an amazing movie. Definitely a bit heavy. Not the kind of movie you want to see if you want to go out and just have a fun night without anything serious, but it is wonderful and I highly recommend it.
Clint Eastwood did an amazing job directing a superb cast. The story is great, I'm going to buy the book so that I can read the original, too.
By far my favorite 2003 movie. It blows the rest of them away. Make sure you put this on your list of films to see if it isn't already.

Absolute Power (1997)

Cast: Clint Eastwood (Luther Whitney), Gene Hackman (President Allen Richmond), Ed Harris (Seth Frank), Laura Linney (Kate Whitney)
For complete info, see IMDb's Absolute Power page.
As someone who enjoys a good conspiracy theory, this movie about a thief who witnesses a crime involving the President of the US definitely interested me. I enjoyed seeing Clint Eastwood in this one. Not very different from many of his roles, but different enough to keep me interested and that's really all I can ask of a movie for a couple hours.
The cast is wonderful and the story is really good. I definitely recommend renting this one.
