Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004)

Cast: Freddie Prinze Jr. (Fred Jones), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Daphne Blake), Matthew Lillard (Norville 'Shaggy' Rogers), Linda Cardellini (Velma Dinkley), Seth Green (Patrick)
Another must-see if you're a fan of Scooby-Doo like I am. I was actually pleasantly surprised to like this sequel better than the first live-action Scooby-Doo movie. I enjoyed the addition of Seth Green to the movie and thought he brought a lot. I also loved the idea of all the old costumes being in a museum and then being used by a new criminal mind. Totally wonderful and very Scooby-Doo!
I still think the cast is wonderful and some of the special effects were good. This brings back all those years of the wonderful cartoon and does a good job living up to the expectations of this Scooby-Doo fan.

As a Scooby-Doo fan, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about a live action Scooby-Doo movie. I worried that the CGI would look horrible, or that they wouldn't do it justice. All those fears were unnecessary. I think they did a great job with Scooby-Doo! They had all the things we know and love about the cartoon (Scooby snacks, Zoinks, Shaggy and Scooby being very easily spooked, obvious clues that are missed by most of the group, ...). I don't think they could have done much better with the cast or the story on this movie for fans of the cartoon. Rent Scooby-Doo if you missed it in theatres!

Cruel Intentions (1999)

Cast: Sarah Michelle Gellar (Kathryn Merteuil), Ryan Phillippe (Sebastian Valmont), Reese Witherspoon (Annette Hargrove), Selma Blair (Cecile Caldwell)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Cruel Intentions page.
It's a shame this movie was only advertised as a teen flick. Had the ads (and perhaps the title) been different, I think it would appeal to a wider audience. It was great to see an updated version of Dangerous Liaisons for a younger generation. I've always liked re-made classics and this one is done with a fresh view.

Clearly, there was no way that Scream 2 could live up to Scream. I still enjoyed it - especially since I didn't get to see the original in a movie theatre. I liked that in the first movie they concentrated on the rules of horror films and in Scream 2 they concentrate on the rules of sequels. Wes Craven really does a great job with the comedy/horror genre!
