I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry (2007)

Cast: Adam Sandler (Chuck Levine), Kevin James (Larry Valentine), Jessica Biel (Alex McDonough), Dan Aykroyd (Captain Tucker)
For more information, see IMDb's I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry page.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry is far from Adam Sandler or Kevin James' best comedic work, but it's worth renting or watching on a movie channel on TV. I wouldn't go out of my way for it and it wasn't very high on my list, but when I saw that it was on HBO, I figured it was worth recording. Definitely an amusing premise, but I think they could have done a better job with the story.

Blues Brothers 2000 (1998)

Cast: Dan Aykroyd (Elwood Blues), John Goodman (Mighty Mack McTeer), J. Evan Bonifant (Buster Blues)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Blues Brothers 2000 page.

I think that this movies comes down to the fact that John Belushi (who starred in the original movie The Blues Brothers with Dan Akroyd) is impossible to replace. The chemistry John Belushi and Dan Akroyd shared in The Blues Brothers wasn't repeated in Blues Brothers 2000.

Perhaps we should have known to be wary when a movie with 2000 in the title was released in 1998. It made no sense, but I rushed out to see Blues Brothers 2000 anyway. I love the original. It's a cult classic. The new movie is anything but a classic.

If you want to relive the experience of The Blues Brothers, buy the DVD or rent it from Netflix. It's wonderful and well worth another look no matter how many times you've seen it. Stay away from Blues Brothers 2000.

Grosse Pointe Blank (1997)

Cast: John Cusack (Martin Q. Blank), Minnie Driver (Debi Newberry), Alan Arkin (Dr. Oatman), Dan Aykroyd (Grocer), Joan Cusack (Marcella)
For complete info, see IMDb's Grosse Pointe Blank page.

A professional assassin's job collides with his ten-year high school reunion... I'm sure you can see what problems that might bring up for Martin. The cast is great, the action is well done, the soundtrack is wonderful, and it's hilrious. What more can one ask for?
