Hairspray (2007)

Cast: John Travolta (Edna Turnblad), Nikki Blonsky (Tracy Turnblad), Michelle Pfeiffer (Velma Von Tussle), Christopher Walken (Wilbur Turnblad), Amanda Bynes (Penny Pingleton), Zac Efron (Link Larkin), Queen Latifah (Motormouth Maybelle), James Marsden (Corny Collins), Elijah Kelley (Seeweed)
For complete info on the amazing cast and crew, see IMDb's Hairspray page.
I love musical movies and I'm very happy that the genre is thriving again. A movie based on a Broadway musical based on a movie is an amusing thought, even though they did the same thing with The Producers. The cast they chose for the Hairspray revival really could not have been better. While I agree with many who say that Harvey Fierstein should have been in the movie and is a big enough draw for the movie (Heck, did they need more of a draw? Look at the rest of the cast.), John Travolta did a wonderful job as Edna Turnblad!
The crowd at the movie theatre was ready to enjoy the movie. They were applauding at the beginning of the movie and cheered throughout the movie for some of the better scenes. It was definitely the right theatre to enjoy Hairspray, since it's such an outrageous movie.
Nikki Blonsky did a wonderful job in her first movie. I'm glad that they found the star of the movie much in the same way they found the star of the Broadway show. Tracy Turnblad being played by an amazingly talented unknown actress just seems to fit the part at this point.
They did an amazing job bringing the Broadway adaptation of the original movie back to the big screen. If you like musicals, you definitely need to see this one. Hairspray is a fun movie with a very good message.

Click (2006)

Cast: Adam Sandler (Michael Newman), Kate Beckinsale (Donna Newman), Christopher Walken (Morty), David Hasselhoff (Mr. Ammer)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Click page.
The story behind Click was such an interesting idea that I was really looking forward to the movie. We didn't have time to see it in the theatre, but now that I've rented it, I'm glad. I would have been disappointed if I'd bothered to see Click in a theatre. It wasn't a bad movie, but it's definitely not great.
Click is worth renting, but I wouldn't rush to put it at the top of my Netflix list.

The Stepford Wives (2004)

Cast: Nicole Kidman (Joanna Eberhart), Matthew Broderick (Walter Kresby), Bette Midler (Bobbie Markowitz), Glenn Close (Claire Wellington), Christopher Walken (Mike Wellington), Roger Bart (Roger Bannister)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's The Stepford Wives page.
The original was definitely better and the new version of The Stepford Wives is a lot less plausible, but I still enjoyed it. Though the remake of The Stepford Wives is way too cheesy and out there, I still thought it was enjoyable to watch for a bit. I would probably say it belongs on the rental list, but it's worth renting.

Man on Fire (2004)

Cast: Denzel Washington (Creasy), Dakota Fanning (Pita), Marc Anthony (Samuel), Radha Mitchell (lisa), Christopher Walken (Rayburn)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Man on Fire page.
This movie about a former assassin hired to protect a family and then exacting vengeance on those who kidnapped the family's daughter is very well done. Of course, with a cast that includes Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning, I'd expect nothing less. Who better to exact revenge than someone who used to be an assassin? I'm sure Pita's family was glad they hired Creasy!
I definitely recommend renting this one if you missed it in theatres.

Catch Me if You Can (2002)

Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio (Frank Abagnale Jr.), Tom Hanks (Carl Hanratty), Christopher Walken (Frank Abagnale, Sr.), Martin Sheen (Roger Strong)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Catch Me If You Can page.
Don't let Leonardo DiCaprio scare you away from seeing this movie based on a true story about a man who conned millions of dollars as a Pan Am pilot, doctor, & lawyer. He and the rest of the cast do a great job in Catch Me If You Can. It's a very interesting movie, made more interesting by the fact that it's all based on a real story. The idea that someone could get away with everything Frank Abagnale Jr. managed to pull is amazing!
Security at airports is much more strict now, but even at that time, one would think you couldn't just pretend to be a pilot. Really blows my mind that someone could get away with so much. I definitely recommend this interesting movie.
