The Stepford Wives (2004)

Cast: Nicole Kidman (Joanna Eberhart), Matthew Broderick (Walter Kresby), Bette Midler (Bobbie Markowitz), Glenn Close (Claire Wellington), Christopher Walken (Mike Wellington), Roger Bart (Roger Bannister)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's The Stepford Wives page.

The original was definitely better and the new version of The Stepford Wives is a lot less plausible, but I still enjoyed it. Though the remake of The Stepford Wives is way too cheesy and out there, I still thought it was enjoyable to watch for a bit. I would probably say it belongs on the rental list, but it's worth renting.

Oliver & Company (1988)

Cast: Joey Lawrence, Billy Joel, Cheech Marin, Richard Mulligan, Roscoe Lee Browne, Sheryl Lee Browne, Dom DeLuise, Bette Midler
For complete info, see IMDb's Oliver & Company page.

I was really happy when Disney announced the re-release of Oliver & Company in theatres. Although this time period in Disney history is often talked about as some of the worst animation they had and isn't known for the best stories, I think that Oliver & Company is really cute and very well done. The animation is definitely not the best you'll see in Disney movies for this one, but the story (clearly based on Oliver Twist) is very well done and I think there's better music in this version than there is in the musical Oliver!.

If you have kids, I think this is a really good idea for a rental (and possibly to own). There are some great songs done by Billy Joel, Huey Lewis & the News, Bette Midler, etc. and a cute story.

Hocus Pocus (1993)

Cast: Bette Midler (Winifred 'Winnie' Sanderson), Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah Sanderson), Kathy Najimy (Mary Sanderson), Omri Katz (Max Dennison ), Thora Birch (Dani)
For complete info, see IMDb's Hocus Pocus page.

This movie should have been released in October, since it's the perfect Halloween movie. The story of witches who were brought back to life 300 years later, leaving a couple teenagers & a younger sister to stop them from taking the life-force away from all the town's children. It's a fairly thin plot and easy to read, but this is a kids movie. I think it was very well done. The cast is wonderful - especially the witches.

My favorite part is probably when Sarah is talking about running amuck and bounces around saying "Amuck, amuck, amuck, amuck." Very cute. And who doesn't like a talking black cat in a Halloween movie? I definitely recommend this if you have kids or can appreciate younger humor. It's a very well done movie.
