Made of Honor (2008)

Cast: Patrick Dempsey (Thomas 'Tom' Bailey), Michelle Monaghan (Hannah), Kevin McKidd (Colin McMurray), Kadeem Hardison (Felix)
For complete information, see IMDb's Made of Honor page.

This was a very cute romantic comedy. I think as long as you go into Made of Honor expecting a fluff romantic comedy with Patrick Dempsey (I'd see him in almost anything), you'll get exactly what you think you will and you'll enjoy the movie. If you expect it to be thought provoking, you don't understand the genre very well.

Personally, I enjoy a light romantic comedy from time to time and thought this one was well done. It's a cute story about a best friend falling in love at the wrong time. Much better than My Best Friend's Wedding and a lot more enjoyable.

Enchanted (2007)

Cast: Julie Andrews (Narrator - voice), Amy Adams (Giselle), Patrick Dempsey (Robert Philip), James Marsden (Prince Edward), Susan Sarandon (Queen Narissa), Timothy Spall (Nathaniel), Idina Menzel (Nancy Tremaine), Rachel Covey (Morgan Philip)
For complete info, see IMDb's Enchanted page.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Enchanted. It looked really cute, but I didn't want to get my hopes up too much, even though Alan Menken & Stephen Schwartz did the music and the cast was wonderful. Enchanted far exceeded my expectations of a cute Disney movie that I'd want to see once. The music is wonderful. The characters are completely lovable. Although they used aspects of almost every main Disney princess story (the apple and hag from Snow White, story book intro & ending used in many, the carriage and shoe from Cinderella, etc.), I thought the overall feel was very much like Sleeping Beauty, my favorite Disney movie. Perhaps that's why I enjoyed Enchanted so much.

I highly recommend renting Enchanted if you missed it while it was in theatres. It's on my list of movies I need to own on Blu-ray DVD (when I get a Blu-ray player) and it's one of the few movies I watched twice before returning it to Netflix.

Freedom Writers (2007)

Cast: Hilary Swank (Erin Gruwell), Patrick Dempsey (Scott Casey), Scott Glenn (Steve), Imelda Staunton (Margaret Campbell), April L. Hernandez (Eva)
For complete info, see IMDb's Freedom Writers page.

This movie, based on the book of the true story, is very moving and well done. It's not completely unique, since other teachers have reached out to those everyone thought didn't deserve their time and there have been movies made about some of these teachers. However, the way Freedom Writers was told through the eyes of the students and the way all of their stories were incorporated into the movie was a bit different than the average movie about a teacher taking a bunch of kids no one thought were worth anything and caring enough to make a difference.

Erin Gruwell started an amazing program and the kids who are graduating are a testament to that system. This movie is a good tribute to the real Freedom Writers and is definitely worth renting if you missed it in theatres.

Sweet Home Alabama (2002)

Cast: Reese Witherspoon (Melanie Smooter/Carmichael), Josh Lucas (Jake Perry), Patrick Dempsey (Andrew Hennings)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Sweet Home Alabama page.

Another really cute Reese Witherspoon movie. The cast is great and the story is really cute and heart-warming. If you like romantic comedies, this is the movie for you. It's got it all.

Reese Witherspoon actually plays someone from the south in Sweet Home Alabama and it's fun watching her in a movie with her original southern accent.

Scream 3 (2000)

Cast: David Arquette (Dwight 'Dewey' Riley), Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott), Courteney Cox Arquette (Gale Weathers), Patrick Dempsey (Det. Mark Kincaid)), Liev Schreiber (Cotton Weary)
For complete cast, see IMDb's Scream 3 page.

Definitely not as good as Scream & Scream 2, but still well worth seeing. I'm glad I saw it in theatres. Wes Craven rarely disappoints me and although this movie wasn't quite as interesting as the first two, it was still very well done!

In the first movie, they talked about what not to do in scary movies, the second movie they talked about sequel no-no's and Scream 3 addresses the things you should never do in a trilogy. All of this makes you laugh. I think that the main difference in the final chapter of the trilogy is that Scream 3 didn't make me scream as much as the first two did.

Still very entertaining, though, and worth seeing.
