The Majestic (2001)

I was pleasantly surprised by Jim Carrey in a drama. I admit that I was sceptical and didn't know what to expect. I sometimes find him hard to handle in his most popular genre, so going outside of that was a gamble. I think he (and the rest of the wonderful cast) did a great job in The Majestic. This story of mistaken identity, love, and a town that needs to believe is very good and I definitely recommend renting it. I'm sure many people stayed away from this because of the timing of the release, Jim Carrey's name attached to a drama, and many other reasons. Definitely check it out on DVD, though. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

Grade: B+
