Spider-Man 3: The IMAX Experience (2007)

Cast: Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man/Peter Parker), Kirsten Dunst (Mary Jane Watson), James Franco (New Goblin/Harry Osborn), Thomas Haden Church (Sandman/Flint Marko), Topher Grace (Venom/Eddie Brock), Bryce Dallas Howard (Gwen Stacy), Rosemary Harris (May Parker)
For complete info, see IMDb's Spider-Man 3 page.

I liked Spider-Man 2 better than Spider-Man, so I had high hopes for Spider-Man 3 - especially since I always liked Venom. I wasn't disappointed. The special effects were wonderful and the story was great.

I never read the comic books, so I don't know if they stayed in line with that and don't remember Sandman from the cartoon, but they did a great job with the Venom part of the story line. They also did a great job with the Spider-Man/New Goblin, Peter Parker/Harry Osborn dynamics. Having the competition between Eddie Brock and Peter Parker playing off of the Venom & Spider-Man fights was a nice touch. I don't remember much about Eddie Brock from the cartoon, probably because Venom is so much cooler, but in the movie it was a very interesting part of the story.

Definitely catch this one in IMAX if you can, since the special effects are worth seeing on the largest screen possible and in the best quality.

Over the Hedge (2006)

Cast: Bruce Willis, Wanda Sykes, Steve Carell, Garry Shandling, William Shatner, Nick Nolte, Thomas Haden Church
For complete info, see IMDb's Over the Hedge page.

Over the Hedge wasn't nearly as funny as I thought it would be from the ads, but it was definitely worth renting. It's very amusing to see how the animals work together. The animation wasn't as good as Pixar animation, but it was decent.

If you missed it in theatres, it's not a movie that you need to rent immediately, but it's worth putting Over the Hedge in your Netflix queue.

Sideways (2004)

Cast: Paul Giamatti (Miles), Thomas Haden Church (Jack), Virginia Madsen (Maya), Sandra Oh (Stephanie)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Sideways page.

I think Sideways is a hilarious movie. It's even funnier than the advertising indicates, which seems to get more rare every year. My vote for best picture still goes to Million Dollar Baby, but Sideways was great.

I can't tell you too much about the movie without giving it away, but I think it will have people everywhere paying more attention to the wine they are drinking, due to the back story of the vineyards and wine in Sideways.
