Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009)

Cast: Isla Fisher (Rebecca Bloomwood), Hugh Dancy (Luke Brandon), Krysten Ritter (Suze), Joan Cusack (Jane Bloomwood), John Goodman (Graham Bloomwood)

For complete info on the amazing cast, see IMDb's Confessions of a Shopaholic page.

It's not often that I enjoy the movie version of a book more than I liked the book. However, I think Confessions of a Shopaholic was a better movie than book. I enjoyed the book a lot and read it quickly, but when making the movie they seemed to make all the right choices of what to include in the movie and what to leave on the cutting room floor. The extras on the DVD revealed that some of the scenes cut from the book had been filmed, but got cut.

Isla Fisher is a wonderful actress and she does an excellent job of bringing Rebecca Bloomwood to life in a way that makes you absolutely adore the character. If you didn't read the book, this movie is a great romantic comedy - very well done. If you did read the book, they did a wonderful job bringing the book to the big screen. Either way, I highly recommend renting Confessions of a Shopaholic. It's a fun movie.

The Jane Austen Book Club (2007)

Cast: Maria Bello (Jocelyn), Emily Blunt (Prudie Drummond), Kathy Baker (Bernadette), Amy Brenneman (Sylvia Avila), Maggie Grace (Allegra Avila), Hugh Dancy (Grigg Harris), Jimmy Smits (Daniel Avila), Marc Blucas (Dean Drummond), Kevin Zegers (Trey)
For complete info, see IMDb's The Jane Austen Book Club page.

I can't remember why I added this book to my list, but it was probably a combination of the title (being about a Jane Austen book club when I read so much) and the amazing cast. The cast of The Jane Austen Book Club is amazing. I really wanted to list everyone in my blog, but that'd take so much space. I didn't realize that I'd pretty much recognize the entire cast (though I had to look some of them up on IMDb, I admit).

If you love to read, this is a must see movie! I think those who don't love to read or who aren't fans of Jane Austen can still enjoy this movie, but I'm sure it's a bit more of a "chick flick" because of the romantic undertones and the Jane Austen basis. Not that men can't enjoy Jane Austen's books, but I think women tend to be her bigger fans.

Any fan of reading or romantic movies should rent The Jane Austen Book Club. I really enjoyed this movie and I'm so glad I saw it. Definitely not a movie you had to see in a theatre, since there are no special effects. It's just a great story with an amazing cast!

King Arthur (2004)

Cast: Clive Owen (Arthur), Ioan Gruffudd (Lancelot), Hugh Dancy (Galahad), Keira Knightley (Guinevere)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's King Arthur page.

I've always liked the story of King Arthur, so the latest version of the story interested me. The cast was amazing, as were the costumes and the music (I love Hans Zimmer). This King Arthur movie demystified the legend. It took out all the "magic" and concentrated on nature and relationships.

I enjoyed this version of the King Arthur legend, though I think that it could have been better done. Definitely worth renting.
