Rockapella, Lewis Family Playhouse - Rancho Cucamonga (2006)

Scott Leonard, Jeff Thacher, Kevin Wright, George Baldi III, & John K. Brown
For complete info on the group, see the official Rockapella website.

Rockapella has been my favorite a capella group, since my first year of college (1991). If you like a capella music at all (and even if you don't), I highly recommend checking out Rockappela when they're in your area.

They were amazing in 1991 and keep getting better. When Jeff Thacher joined the group (in 1993), the sound got much better - Jeff was the first vocal percussionist of his kind and still the best. His "drum" solos are phenomenal!

When the original members left, it was always a bit of a worry that they wouldn't find someone as good. However, in every instance, they improved the group. Of course, they are the best a capella group out there, so they got tapes from all over the world, I'm sure. They improved their sound every time they got a new band member (and the group is even more attractive overall now than they were when I saw them in concert the first time - 1994). In my opinion, the best improvement was when John K. Brown joined the group. Not only is the sound amazing, but John brought the group great choreography, so now Rockapella is even more entertaining.

The first concert I saw with John in the group was the best I had seen Rockapella. Each time I see them in concert, they seem to get better and better. Our friends who joined us for this concert loved it (Brian even told David that it was the best concer he'd seen and he and Elizabeth bought an album). I can't say enough good things about Rockapella (who you may have seen in the children's game show Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? and a couple Folgers commercials.

Rockapella will always be one of my favorite groups to see perform live. I have all their albums and can't wait for the next one! They don't come out to the west coast nearly enough, but at least we normally get to see them once a year.
