Book of Love (2004)

Cast: Frances O'Connor (Elaine Walker), Simon Baker (David Walker), Gregory Smith (Chet Becker)
For complete info on this great cast, see IMDb's Book of Love page.

In spite of its seemingly mainstreem title, Book of Love was definitely at Sundance for a reason. It's a very well done movie (except for the fact that it just sort of stops) with an amazing cast. The story is far from conventional, so you have to be prepared for a movie with a love triangle involving a teenage child and a married couple, but if you can handle that, I think Book of Love is worth taking the time to watch.

The movie held our interest throughout. Though it was a bit confusing at times, it was confusing because you couldn't always figure out why the characters would be doing something, not because you didn't understand what exactly had happened. I also liked that it wasn't a standard predictable movie. One thing we expected to happen almost from the point where you first see David Walker interacting with his high school students never happened, which was a refreshing change of pace for the movie.

If you don't like movies that are a bit off the wall, stay away. Otherwise, I recommend renting Book of Love.
