Hardball (2001)

I never expected to be moved by a movie about little league baseball and a guy who is forced to coach a team from a housing project as a condition of a friend's loan. But, I was. This movie, which was billed as more of a Bad News Bears type of movie is VERY SAD. I was not prepared for that side of it at all from the previews and it hit me a lot harder than it would have if I had known about it. This movie is billed as a feel-good movie, not one that will make a person cry.

A great movie, but be aware that it's not a happy afternoon of fun and little league.

Grade: B+
