City of Angels, Broadway (1991)

Cast: Tom Wopat (Stone), Michael Rupert (Stine), Susan Terry (Oolie), Kay McClelland (Gabby), Richard Kline (Buddy Fidler & Irwin S. Irving), and a wonderful cast

The beginning of this show, which I won't spoil for those of you who haven't seen it, really caught me off guard and is so well done. The story, music, and lyrics of City of Angels are all very strong. It's a great story of an author whose writing normally mirrors his life and whose book gets picked up to be a Hollywood movie. It's very entertaining and a lot of fun with, of course, your great happy Hollywood ending.

Tom Wopat has a great singing voice, which I didn't realize before this show. The rest of the cast was also very good.
