Sweet Charity, tour, Orange County Performing Arts Center (2006)

Cast: Molly Ringwald (Charity Hope Valentine), Guy Adkins (Oscar Lindquist), Steve Wilson (Vittorio Vidal)
For complete tour info, see the official Sweet Charity tour site.
Sweet Charity is a very cute old-fashioned musical. It's got a good story without the completely perfect standard musical ending. There's a reason some of the songs from Sweet Charity are
The touring cast is very good! I was impressed with everyone. Having seen the original Broadway cast of the revival, it was hard not to compare them to the cast I saw last year on Broadway. They all did a very good job.
I was disappointed that they didn't create the part of the lake by using part of the pit and cloth the way they did on Broadway, but I guess it was more complicated to work out with a different pit to deal with every few weeks.
Other than that, the show is very well done. I highly recommend catching the tour of Sweet Charity if you missed the revival on Broadway. It's a good show with some wonderful dance numbers and good music.

Cabaret, Broadway revival (2002)

Cast: Raul Esparza (Emcee), Molly Ringwald (Sally Bowles), many other talented performers
I hadn't seen Cabaret in years and my boyfriend had never seen it, so I was really excited about seeing this revival. I was also interested in getting to hear Molly Ringwald sing. She's great!
I wish I had gotten to see Alan Cumming (one of my favorites) in this roll, but Raul Esparza is absolutely amazing as the Emcee and I can't imagine anyone (even Alan Cumming) doing a better job. Of course, the one thing that's always bothered me about Cabaret is that it started the whole M. C. to Emcee problem... Took the Master of Ceremonies out of the M. C., but other than that it's a great musical.
Of course, due to the subject matter, it is not a happy show, but this revival was very well done. The music is great and the cast is amazing.
