Sex and the City (2008)

Cast: Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes), Kristin Davis (Charlotte York), Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones), Chris Noth (Mr. Big), Jennifer Hudson (Louise), David Eigenberg (Steve Brady), Evan Handler (Harry Goldenblatt), Jason Lewis (Jerry 'Smith' Jerrod)
For complete information, see IMDb's Sex and the City page.

This movie was really well done! I thought that Sarah Jessica Parker wouldn't do a Sex and the City movie if it wasn't a good story that did justice to the amazing show. Fortunately, I was right. My faith in her was well placed.

I think this was a wonderfully done movie. I didn't need to see it in a theatre, which I knew before seeing it. I had planned to see something like the new Indiana Jones movie or Iron Man. Something where the special effects and action sequences will be so much better on the big screen. I ended up seeing Sex and the City instead because of the timing and I really enjoyed it.

Every woman will probably see her best friend doing a few things during this movie. At one point, I just thought "James would totally do that for me!" It warmed my heart, made me tear up in a few points, reminded me why I loved having HBO while Sex and the City was on TV.

You don't need to see this in a theatre, but if you're going out with the girls, it'd be a fun part of a night out. I definitely recommend renting this movie when it comes out in theatres. Even if you didn't see the TV show, they recap enough at the beginning that you probably won't feel as attached to the characters, but you'll know who they are and where we left them at the end of the TV show.

Duma (2005)

Cast: Alex Michaeletos (Xan), Campbell Scott (Peter), Hope Davis (Kristin)
Duma was played by Anthony, Azaro, Nikita, Sasha, & Savannah and Sheba played Young Duma.
For complete info, see IMDb's Duma page.

This story about an orphaned cheetah and the boy who adopts him is wonderful and heart-warming. The fact that this movie is based on a true story makes it even more incredible. I can't wait to read the book!

The South African boy who adopts Duma raises him on his farm. When Duma grows up, Xan's father wants to return him to the wild, but before he can do that, circumstances force the family to move into the city. (Not sure why they can't wait a couple days for the people from the reserve to pick up Duma, but Xan doesn't want Duma on a reserve anyway...) Xan wants what his father wanted - to return Duma to the wild.

Of course, with Xan at school in the city, Duma gets out, finds Xan at school, and causes all sorts of chaos. They run off to the wild to try to return Duma to his natural habitat so that he can live happily ever after. Can't tell you whether that works out or not, you have to watch the movie for yourself.

Duma and Xan encounter a lot of drama along the way and Duma is a very interesting adventure about a boy trying to do what is right for his best friend, who just happens to be a cheetah. The story is very touching.

If you liked Two Brothers, like animals, or like Africa, this is a must see movie! The scenery is amazing, the cast is wonderful, and the story is beautiful! I highly recommend this movie!
