Lucky Number Slevin (2006)

Cast: Josh Hartnett (Slevin Kelevra), Bruce Willis (Goodkat), Lucy Liu (Lindsey), Morgan Freeman (The Boss), Ben Kingsley (The Rabbi)
For complete information on this amazing cast, see IMDb's Lucky Number Slevin page.
Although Lucky Number Slevin probably annoyed some people by being too complex or not seeming to fit together well, I thought they did a great job of pulling all the plot lines together at the end. They showed you how every character tied together with the rest of the movie and it was beautifully done.
The cast is amazing. The story is intricate and kept me interested throughout the movie. There are some decent action scenes, there are some good plot twists. In spite of the critics' reviews, I would definitely recommend this movie. Lucky Number Slevin entertained me and kept me paying attention. Of course, most of the people in the movie can pick almost any project they want, so it makes sense that Lucky Number Slevin is a very good movie.

Hollywood Homicide (2003)

Cast: Harrison Ford (Sgt. Joe Gavilan), Josh Hartnett (Det. K.C. Calden), Lena Olin (Ruby)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Hollywood Homicide page.
I'm a big Harrison Ford fan and I've been impressed with most of what Josh Hartnett has done, too. So, how did Hollywood Homicide happen? Not really sure... I can't understand why any of the great actors who appear in this movie decided to do it. Perhaps they just needed a break from the box office pressures of really great movies. Perhaps they just wanted a movie where they could play cops and robbers. Not sure, but I'm sure that they'll both go on to do many amazing movies in the future so that we can forget we ever saw them in this movie.

Such a funny premise - giving up sex for lent. Hilarious! They do a great job with taking this idea to the limit, but not going beyond. Great cast, super-funny story, and a little romance. What more could one ask for in a romantic comedy?

O (2001)

Cast: Mekhi Phifer (Odin James), Josh Hartnett (Hugo Goulding), Julia Stiles (Desi Brable)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's O page.
I'm so happy that there are constantly new versions of Shakespeare's work available to get teens interested in the classics. I think that O was wonderfully done, though it will probably not be very popular in theatres, since it is very dark, as is the original, Othello.
If you're in okay with a very dark story, this is a wonderfully done updated version of Othello and I highly recommend it.

Pearl Harbor (2001)

Cast: Ben Affleck (Capt. Rafe McCawley), Josh Hartnett (Capt. Danny Walker), Kate Beckinsale (Nurse Lt. Evelyn Johnson), Cuba Gooding Jr. (Petty Officer Doris Miller)
For complete cast info, see IMDb's Pearl Harbor page.
This is definitely no reason to rush out and catch a movie. I thought it'd be worth seeing in the theatres for special effects, at least, but not really. It didn't honor those who died or even do a good job with the love story, which was clearly the only aspect of the movie they spent much time on. Since the love stories take place across years and there is too much dead time, even the movie's main point was lost.
Definitely more of a rental than a big screen pic.

For complete cast, see IMDb's Here on Earth page.
I know this teenage romantic drama about a rich college kid who's taught a lesson when he destroys a small town diner because of an out-of-control car race gets a lot of flack. It's definitely not a high brow film, but I enjoyed this movie. I think it's a cute story about kids dealing with prejudice and the consequences of their actions as well as life and death. Definitely worth renting or watching on TV, but not necessary to see in theatres.
